A morning well spent in the darkroom at Hill End Press
Haefligers Cottage Hill End
Haefligers Cottage, my home away from home for December.
I'm currently out at Hill End participating in the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery Hill End Artist-In-Residence Program, keeping myself busy photographing, recording, drawing, reading, writing, thinking, cycling...and listening to the birds!

The Room at Gallery Red
Opening next Friday, July 25th 6-8pm.
Gallery Red presents The Room a solo photographic exhibition by Rachael Ireland that visually manipulates the threshold between house and country, exploring the tensions inherent in trying to define home. Tourism and travel is used to reflect the spaces between house, home and country. Traditional black and white processes as well as double exposure and slide projections are used to create layered imagery that both references and disrupts the practice of travel photography; which seeks to capture and contain the unfamiliar in an attempt to make it familiar.

BRAG Hill End Artist-In-Residence Program
Some exciting news for 2014
I will be heading to Hill End at the end of the year to participate in the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery Hill End Artist-In-Residence Program! Here's what I'm proposing to get up to while I'm there...
Through her photographic art practice Rachael Ireland re-interprets cultural histories and relationships with place, examining how these inform ideas of home in contemporary society. Engaging with the history and landscape of Hill End,and with a focus on still life and house portraiture, Ireland intends to create hand coloured photographs that expand these traditional genres and re-imagine the cottage within the surrounding landscape.
